'The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing'
1st December 2008, 19:00 to 21:00
Narrated by Kathy Bates, this documentary was put together by the American Cinema Editors (ACE) to show the secrets of film editing.
Interviews with the past and current great directors and editors, as well as examples from films of flashbacks, parallel action, slow motion, juxtaporition of images and other tools show us how editors work their magic. Directors such as Steven Speilberg, Quentin Tarantino, James Cameron, and more discuss the importance of editing to the entire filmmaking process and the director/editor relationship.
These screenings are made possible by S.A.G.E. As a member you can put forward your work to be screened. To do so please e-mail the S.A.G.E. Executive.
Past screenings have included the Emmy Award winner 'Eye of the Leopard' (Q&A with editor Melanie Jankes Golden and colourist Graham Cooke); BBC documentary 'Glow of White Women' (Q&A with editor Catherine Meyburgh and colourist Yoav Dagen); as well as Oscar Winner 'Tsotsi' (Q&A with sound editor Juli Vandenberg and last year's Q&A with editor Megan Gill)
